
Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) President and CEO Victor Jose I. Luciano announced yesterday the success of the RP-Qatar Air Consultation Talks held at the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) where the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) got 14 flights per week via Clark-Doha route.
“This is another major development for DMIA as we look forward that Qatar will fly out of Clark this year due to the success of the air talks between the two countries,” Luciano said.
The agreement between the Philippine Air Panel and Qatar Air Panel paves the way for additional international flights for the country especially DMIA in Clark Freeport which is being geared as the Premier International Gateway by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Luciano said DMIA from three got an additional 14 flights per week from Doha in Qatar to Clark, adding that they also wants to connect it to Australia.
He said that with the additional international flights, “our fellow Filipinos especially the Overseas Filipino Workers in the Middle East will open up more access to them were most of bulk of the ofws come from the Northern Luzon area.”
He commended the members of the Philippine Air Panel headed by Transportation and Communication undersecretary Dorotheo Reyes were CIAC is a member for the success of the RP-Qatar Air Consultation Talks.
Luciano also commended CIAC Executive Vice-President Alexander Cauguiran’s efforts in negotiating for seat entitlements for Clark so as to attract more flights at the airport.
The agreement also augmented the weekly flights to a total eight from the current five for the Doha-Manila route, while Cebu got 14 flights from the previous three weekly.
